Personal Passage
Choose a passage, quote, lyric, poem, or short excerpt that helps answer the question: “Why am I the way I am?”
This could be something that reminds you of your personality, your upbringing, your culture, your values, your struggles, or your strengths. It just needs to feel true to some part of who you are.
Your task:
- Find a passage or quote (1–5 sentences) that speaks to your identity, story, or way of being.
- Share the passage in your submission.
- Explain your connection to it by answering the following questions in a short paragraph:
- What part of the passage resonates with you most?
- How does it reflect something real about who you are or how you grew up?
- What does it help you understand about yourself?
This activity is meant to help you explore your identity and reflect on the experiences, feelings, and influences that shape you. There are no wrong answers—only honest connections.
Take your time, choose something meaningful, and let your reflection show the real you.
Designer Note: This activity needs to be tweaked or removed. It is awkward in the quiz format and needs a different structure. Additionally, if it stays, it needs to be scaffolded with examples and a skeleton outline to support writing as well as a checksheet or rubric for self-evaluation.
